My Morning Jacket Hit The Road With The Preservation Hall Jazz Band Posted on Jan 29 2010

It’s been almost a full year, but the wait is finally over. My Morning Jacket are ready to bring their electrifying live show back on the road. The guys will make their way around the Southeastern United States this Spring, including a performance at this year’s Jazzfest in New Orleans. MMJ are also excited to both try something new with their choice for an opening act, and bring some of the spirit of NOLA along with them. The band is honored that the historic Preservation Hall Jazz Band will be supporting them on the run.

The connection with the PHJB originated in the Spring of 2009 when MMJ frontman Jim James was invited to sing with them at their home turf, New Orleans’ legendary Preservation Hall. James recorded two songs with the band: “St. James Infirmary” and “Louisiana Fairytale.” The tracks will appear on the bands forthcoming album, PRESERVATION: An Album To Benefit Preservation Hall & The Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program, out February 16th.

In the meantime, she is bringing her inimitable live show back to the US with her “The We Meaning You Tour” including a performance at the 2010 Coachella festival! "Good morning all!

Ok, so you’re gonna love this. The other day I got a personalized letter from PETA! Lol so after some thought I've decided to write one back. Goes a little something like this:

There is no humane way to kill anything, let me start there. It’s unfortunate but it’s part of life. With that being said, I would eat pterodactyl if you found some and you told me it was meaty and delicious. And after doing a very minimal amount of research....... I found out that the founder Ingrid Newkirk is completely batty. I had a feeling but she far exceeded my expectations. I mean certifiably insane! Lol this chicks will is nuts, google it – it’s a riot! Beyond the fact that I think she's a diabetic, which means she needs insulin, which is taken from lab pigs (I know this because my sister happens to be in veterinary school), which would be completely hypocritical. It’s like don't abuse animals unless it can help me..."

Fresh off a successful U.S. co-headline tour with Hollywood Undead, eclectic Orange County, CA, rockers Atreyu plan to bring in 2010 in an even more exciting fashion kicking the year off with a quick stop in Japan, then embarking on a stateside winter tour with their longtime peers, The Used. Tour dates and venues listed below.

”We are very excited and pleased to be hitting the road with our friends, The Used,” says Atreyu frontman Alex Varkatzas. “They are a great band and a great bunch of people. They took us on tour several years ago and we had a blast. Needless to say we're looking forward to putting on an amazing show and rocking with those guys again.”

The winter tour dates with The Used start Thursday, January 28 in Anaheim, CA. The concerts will run through February 26 in Birmingham, Alabama’s Five Points Music Hall.

Pop entertainment icon Lady Gaga has been confirmed to perform at music's biggest night, The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards! She has racked up FIVE nominations: Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Dance Recording for "Poker Face", and Album Of The Year and Best Electronic/Dance Album for 'The Fame'.

Other Grammy performers just announced include The Dave Matthews Band, Green Day, P!nk, and The Zac Brown Band! Previously announced performers include Beyoncé, The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum, Maxwell, and Taylor Swift. The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards will air on January 31st at 8pm EST on CBS!

Grammy nominated LMFAO will be party rockin’ with The Black Eyed Peas in 2010! LMFAO’s Redfoo & Sky Blu will join the Peas on the North American leg of their “The E.N.D. World Tour 2010.” Produced by AEG Live, the tour will kick off at Philips Arena in Atlanta on February 4, 2010, and conclude on April 11th at GM Place in Vancouver. Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, better known together as Groove Armada, will release their sixth studio album, Black Light, February 23, 2010 in the U.S. The album, which features an impressive list of guest artists, represents a bold new phase in the duo’s artistic evolution, while maintaining a signature Groove Armada style that fans have come to know and love.

Drawing inspiration from Lovebox – their award-winning London festival featuring bands like the Friendly Fires, the Klaxons, LCD Soundsystem, Ladyhawke and MGMT – the band has taken their songwriting in an unexpected and original direction. “We could've knocked out an album of reggae-influenced house bangers and a couple of chill-out tunes, and that would've been a much easier life," explains Andy. "But we needed a new challenge. Neither of us was interested in just repeating ourselves.”
